General Surgical Procedure: Genioplasty
We currently offer three types of Chin Reduction procedures
01 Mandible Angle Reduction This procedure is suitable for patients who have larger and more wide-set chins. The plastic surgeon will cut and shorten the excess mandible bone near the corner of the chin. Alternatively, depending on the patient, the plastic

Every patient who undergoes a Chin Reduction will be operated on while they are under anesthetics and the plastic surgeon will operate inside the patient’s oral cavity. This will result in a painless procedure with no external scarring.

Does this procedure involve the use of screws and plates? If so, is it dangerous?
This procedure does involve the use of screws and plates, but will not place the patient is any harm or danger
Am I going to experience any problems with chewing or consuming food after the operation?
No, but for the first two weeks, the patient may experience numbness on their lower lip and the area around it. This may make consuming food and moving the lower lip or jaw slightly more difficult
How long does it take for the bone to heal after the operation?
It takes four to six weeks for the bone to heal and reattach to itself after the procedure
Which procedure is better between Chin Reduction and Chin Augmentation?
The procedure for a Chin Reduction is more complicated and permanent. The osteotomy cannot be reversed to how it was before the surgery. However, there is no need to insert any support or implants and is very suitable for patients who would like to change
Am I still able to undergo this procedure despite already having fillers in my chin?
It depends on the filler that the patient has been injected with prior to the procedure. The fillers would have to be dissolved one week before undergoing the procedure. Fillers can be dissolved via injections or the plastic surgeon can scrape off the fil
Am I still able to undergo this procedure if I am currently wearing dental accessories (e.g. braces)?
Wearing dental accessories is not a constraint in undergoing the procedure, but it is not recommended to undergo a surgical procedure on the mandible while wearing them. This is to prevent damaging the accessories
